About Bluegreen Corporation
Massachusetts 1966 the company by the name, the Bluegreen Corporation’s core business was acquiring, improving, selling and financing residential land. In 1986 the Bluegreen was listed on the New York Stock Exchange (NYSE) and in 1991 moved its headquarters to Boca Raton, Florida.
Bluegreen Corporation and the Timeshare Industry
Bluegreen Corporation developed its first timeshare resort in 1994 in the Great Smoky Mountains. Other timeshare resorts would soon follow as company focused its land expansion operations on master-planned communities and developed its first daily-fee golf course in 1996.
RDI Group a privately held vacation developer that operated in both Florida and Wisconsin was bought out by Bluegreen Corporation in 1997. Bluegreen thus became one of the biggest property management companies in the United States. Due to the expansion and the acquisition of other resorts the corporation decided to expand with Bluegreen Vacation Club which would be an extension of Bluegreen Corporation.
Bluegreen Corporation Makes Alliances
In 2000 Bluegreen entered in agreement along with Bass Pro Shops®, Inc., this was a privately held outdoor retail company. They sold such retail items for fishing, hunting, sporting, camping, and other outdoor goods that one might consider purchasing. With the alliance now in place Bluegreen Corporation was able to market vacation products at every retail store owned by Bass Pro including the company’s catalog and online site. Along with the Bass Pro Alliance the company also entered an agreement with Big Cedar to form Bluegreen Corporation’s Wilderness Club at Big Cedar.
Forbes 200 – Bluegreen Corporation
With the continued growth and success Bluegreen was a corporation headed to the top. Forbes took notice and in 2005 the vacation resorts and timeshare company was recognized as one of the companies to make the list of “200 Best Small Companies”. This was the second time in recent years that the company had received the honor and was also listed and one of the “100 Fastest-Growing Companies”.
Which such notoriety it was fairly easy for the company to grow and expand of the next few years. Bluegreen was able to expand its vacation resorts to include Club 36 vacation resort in Las Vegas, Patrick Henry Square resort in Williamsburg, and Atlantic Palace in New Jersey just to name a few. The company not only offered timeshare vacation packages but also vacation getaways.
